A Framework for Managing Multimodal Digitized Music Collections
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, we present a framework for managing heterogeneous, multimodal digitized music collections containing visual music representations (scanned sheet music) as well as acoustic music material (audio recordings). As a first contribution, we propose a preprocessing workflow comprising feature extraction, audio indexing, and music synchronization (linking the visual with the acoustic data). Then, as a second contribution, we introduce novel user interfaces for multimodal music presentation, navigation, and content-based retrieval. In particular, our system offers high quality audio playback with time-synchronous display of the digitized sheet music. Furthermore, our system allows a user to select regions within the scanned pages of a musical score in order to search for musically similar sections within the audio documents. Our novel user interfaces and search functionalities will be integrated into the library service system of the Bavarian State Library as part of the

We introduce the music exploration system SLAVE, which is based upon previous developments of our group. SLAVE manages multimedia music collections and allows for multimodal navigation, playback, and visualization in an efficient and user-friendly manner. 1 While previously the focus of our system development has been the simultaneous exploration of digitized sheet music and audio, with SLAVE w...
متن کاملOverview of MusiCLEF 2011
MusiCLEF is a novel benchmarking activity that aims at promoting the development of new methodologies for music access and retrieval on real public music collections. A major focus is given to multimodal retrieval that, in the case of music collections, can be obtained by combining content-based information, automatically extracted from music files, with contextual information, provided by user...
متن کاملMusiCLEF: a Benchmark Activity in Multimodal Music Information Retrieval
This work presents the rationale, tasks and procedures of MusiCLEF, a novel benchmarking activity that has been developed along with the Cross-Language Evaluation Forum (CLEF). The main goal of MusiCLEF is to promote the development of new methodologies for music access and retrieval on real public music collections, which can combine content-based information, automatically extracted from musi...
متن کاملLyrics-Based Audio Retrieval and Multimodal Navigation in Music Collections
Modern digital music libraries contain textual, visual, and audio data describing music on various semantic levels. Exploiting the availability of different semantically interrelated representations for a piece of music, this paper presents a query-by-lyrics retrieval system that facilitates multimodal navigation in CD audio collections. In particular, we introduce an automated method to time a...
متن کاملHandling Scanned Sheet Music and Audio Recordings in Digital Music Libraries
The last years have seen increasing efforts in building up large digital music collections. These collections typically contain various types of data ranging from audio data such as CD recordings to image data such as scanned sheet music, thus concerning both the auditorial and the visual modalities. In view of multimodal searching, navigation, and browsing applications across the various types...
